LMS was recognized for transforming the 25-acre Crossroads Technology Park into a drought-tolerant landscape.
Landscape Management Services (LMS), a full-service grounds maintenance company in the San Francisco Bay Area, received a certificate of recognition from the Alameda County Water District (ACWD) for its involvement in a drought-friendly landscape project at Crossroads Technology Park, a 25-acre property in Union City, Calif. In an effort to help Crossroads meet its water budget, LMS replaced the property’s turf with drought-friendly plant material, in accordance to ACWD’s standards. “We are thrilled to have received this recognition because it reflects our dedication to providing a sustainable and healthier environment, as well as providing above-and-beyond services for our clients.”
DryJect is expanding with the addition of two new franchisees. Doug Roberts, owner of Northwest Dryject, purchased the DryJect franchise territory that includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Western Montana. Jerry Fleming, owner of Four Fleming, purchased the Utah and Nevada DryJect territory. Roberts and Fleming also formed the management company DryJect Turf Services, located in Meridian, Idaho, to serve as the point of contact for all service logistics and business dealings for the combined company. Services will start this fall.
The North Carolina Nursery & Landscape Association (NCNLA) awarded scholarships to three students enrolled in 2- or 4-year horticulture programs. The recipients of the NCNLA Horticulture Scholarship are David Denton, NC State University; Daniel Lewis, NC State University; and Evan Garner, Apex High School. The recipients were chosen by the NCNLA Board of Directors, who evaluated entrants by scholastic aptitude, work experience, financial need and industry potential, the association said.
TaskEasy, an on-demand exterior maintenance provider, awarded three students with $1,000 scholarships. TaskEasy chose from more than 230 entries of video and written essays. The winners of the TaskEasy Scholarship for Future Entrepreneurs are Alex Fuentes, Stanford University; Calista Kub, University of Colorado Boulder; and Leah Popek, Drexel University.
